St. Maarten – Lions District Governor Lloyd Barker has told the Lions Club of St. Maarten and the Leo Club of St. Maarten he is “very impressed” with the work they’ve been doing in the local community. He’s also commended the fact that they are up to date with their commitments to the regional and international lions’ movement.
“After following the St. Maarten club’s progress for the last few years, I see that the financial and audited records are in order to the District and Lions International and also see that monies which are donated to the club along with monies from fundraising events are being well spent in the St. Maarten community in form of great projects,” Barker said at the conclusion of a recent annual audit.

The board highlighted the Nelson v/d Linde Senior Citizen’s Party at Boo Boo Jam, Lions Health Fair, 40th Anniversary Celebration and several of their fundraising activities like the annual Christmas Bingo.
The local Lions and Leos also discussed local and district matters and had a three course dinner followed by a gift presentation from the club’s members. Barker ends his term as District Governor in June 2012. He will be replaced by Claudius Buncamper who will be the third District Governor from St. Maarten.
