St. Maarten News- Diandra Marlin made light work of the other delegates vying for the crown after winning six of the 10 sashes Posh Productions made available, the proud pageant holders of what was another dynamic competition involving brains and beauty.
Amid the intermittent showers which caused the judges to be relocated and sections of the audience seeking shelter, it was a moment of truth for the four beautiful and attractive young ladies, but like all pageants, there could only be one queen.
Marlin who had a total of 1,787 points won the Miss Social Media after securing the most likes on Facebook that has replaced Miss Popularity. She won the title of Miss Photogenic which was voted by the photographers, best talent, best costume and best evening wear.
Yadishka Van Putten, the only delegate to pose a strong challenge to Marlin was the eventual winner of Crystal Pine Apple Award, donated by the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association, SHTA as the best debater. Van Putten also won Miss Amity, best cultural wear and best interview.
The third runner up with 1,057 points was Juliana Richardson. The second runner up prize went to Van Putten who finished with 1,652 Cecilia Richardson finishing with 1,035 points was.
The pageant was informative, energizing and entertaining. After the introductory dance by the four delegates all similarly attired, they returned to the stage for the speech and cultural wear segment. That was followed by the talent segment, the Carnival costume segment and finally the prom wear segment, a replacement for the evening wear segment.
The prom wear segment was the final chance for the delegates to make an impact on the judges, but only those that had umbrellas or some other form of make shift shelter from the rain were able to witness the young ladies saunter across the stage. But when the results were finally announced, it was met with shouts of appreciation during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
