Customs to place additional investigating officer at St. Maarten airport

St. Maarten – M.C., who was arrested by St. Maarten Customs Officers June 18, remains in custody for attempting to smuggle drugs onto an Air France flight 3515 bound for Paris. Two kilos of cocaine in nine packets were confiscated as part of the investigation.

“Due to the ongoing investigation and the premature stadium of the investigation, further information on this case cannot be released at this moment,” the Head of St. Maarten Customs A.J.G. Doran stated in a press release.

The Department is also still investigating a woman who arrived from Curacao with two kilos of cocaine and the attempt to smuggle marijuana into St. Maarten. The latter smuggler arrived on a flight from Jamaica.

“Customs Department has the intention to add one more officers from the airport to investigate this case further,” Doran added.
