St. Maarten (DCOMM) – The Country Boys won the second annual championship of the St. Maarten Domino Federation. They earned a trophy, cash and the right to represent the country in international competitions.
Minister of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports Silveria Jacobs presented the winners with their prizes on Sunday evening at the Flanders Bar in Sucker Garden.
The Country Boys finished ahead of the Super Square team and Team Regulators. The Undertakers placed fourth. Each team received a plaque for participation from the organizers.
Domino is a cultural pastime as well as a recognized competitive sport. Minister Jacobs pledged her support to continue the tradition.”Only the people can truly pass on our culture to the people, so play dominoes at home, at school and throughout the community. This part of our culture will surely never be lost,” Minister Silveria Jacobs said.
