St. Maarten – The Foundation Cooperating Funds opened its office in Philipsburg on Saturday as a way to ensure that the organization can function better. The office will be open Wednesday and Friday evening and Saturday evening. Non-governmental organizations will also be able to arrange weekend visits.
“We have always tried to get our own coordinator and office and after I replaced Mr. Voges as president we started to work again at showing we really need it,” advisory board president Angela Dekker said.
Later she’d add, “We chose this central location at the Catholic church’s center on Back Street because it’s really easy to walk in.”
To celebrate the opening a check for 73,368 guilders ($40,760) was presented to the White and Yellow Cross Foundation to assist with the purchase of furniture for the St. Maarten home.
“We are extremely grateful and the money will be put to good use,” Bregje Boetekees said.
Saturday’s opening was followed by a small reception.
