St. Maarten – The Nature Foundation received congratulatory emails from the acting secretary general of the Ministry of education, Claudette Forsythe-Labega, and from the Beyond Writing Foundation president Loekie Morales after its manager Tadzio Bervoets signed a management contract for the Man of War Shoal Marine Park with Minister Franklin Meyers on Friday.
Forsythe-Labega also included the minister in her praises. “Tadzio, I know how hard you worked to accomplish this milestone. I wish you continued success as you dedicate time and efforts to the preservation of the little that is left of our island’s natural assets. These accomplishments give hope that all may not be lost after all. I am proud of you,” the email read.
Loekie Morales characterized the signing as “a special milestone” she pointed out that the Nature Foundation has advocated for years to create a protected area. “I hope that everyone appreciates these efforts and finally realizes that we have to be careful with the little nature we have on our small island. Not only for us, but also for our children, grandchildren and all who come after us. Thank you for the awareness about this issue that is so important for St. Maarten.”
