POSTED: 10/27/11 12:25 PM

GREAT BAY/AMSTERDAM – Complaint Officer of the Bureau Ombudsman St. Maarten Charleen Bell is spending the week in Amsterdam doing training at the office of the Ombudsman of Amsterdam Ulco van de Pol. Bell left Saturday and will return on October 29.
The training will cover nine areas including procedures for complaints filed via the telephone, intervention procedure, dealing with difficult complainants, dealing with “walk-in” complaints, reviewing and preparing investigative plans. Bell will also learn preparation and conducting consultation meetings, standards of good conduct, discussion techniques and evaluation.
The training is part of a project funded by Usona, but the Bureau Amsterdam has pre-financed it, because the Usona funding is still not yet available. Ombudsman of St. Maarten Dr Nilda Arduin appreciates that van de Pol’s office has pre-financed the trip and training.
