Well St Martin/St Maarten will have to decide and make it clear to their gay visitors. I already Boyocotted , the Cayman islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc... from my list of place to travel so, one more won't make much difference. I will spend my $5,000.00 a week vacation where I am going to be welcomed. Look at Puerto Vallarta , Mexico, the gays and the straights vacation in the same place without any conflicts. Plenty of bars/hotels/restaurants to accomodate both, they found the winning formula. Maybe St maarten should learn something.... Maybe the French side should take the Gay cruises and have a pride week party with a parade. In Vancouver BC Canada where I am from , last year's parade economic impact amounted to $700 million and 640,000-plus attendees.... well looking at these numbers , maybe St Maarten is too rich and is willing to spit on this potential revenue. I have seen behaviour in the "straight carnival" on st martin/st maarten that I never seen in a gay parade, so pleaaassee stop pointing the finger at the gays !!!

Yeah and he did it before in 2011.

But then Canadians are the absolute stupidest people in the world - look they re-elected BC's Campbell for nearly 12 years though all he did was bleed the province dry.

The guy will get a slap on the wrist and that's that.

I totally agree with Boywonder. There is no way the French government would let this happen. Although, you can't always count on the people after the experience of switching from being a commune to being a collectivity. Hopefully they will take a lesson.

I have been vacationing in St.maarten for years and I have no problem when the "gay" cruisers arrive. I do have a problem when some of the unruly gays are purposely providing a porn show on the beaches. But last year we were exposed to something that topped this - the "swingers" cruise arrived in November and this was so XXXX that security in different beach areas on Orient had to be brought in. And surprisingly most of the restaurants had not be notified in advance of their arrival. We were told by security, had they known, more help would have been available. This year, I will make sure I know when this boat arrives so I can stay in my studio!

I have read most of these comments and with utmost understanding of some of the things that happens on the Island. i must point out that most of the criminal activities that takes place is done by islanders. I have visited Sxm on several occasion and i most point out that i was never so scared in my life. I wake up early in the morning to grab some grocery from a little grocery shop in middle region and to my surprise i saw over TEN young men ( From SXM) who sat at that Supermarket playing and talking all type of nonsense. I returned there in the afternoon only to see the same set of young men there. ( SXM)

As a social worker i have done my investigation and Jamaica is a paradise to SXM. Not only is the island it self a paradise but produce the most skilled workers, the most courteous, professional and smartest people. Every man is entitled to there own opinion but don't stereotype the Jamaican nor the Guyanese but seek to improve the social and behavioral handicaps who are BORN SXMers.
