Colombian consular services available this weekend

St. Maarten – Colombian consular services will be provided to St. Maarten this week, on the occasion of a visit by Colombia’s Consul-general in Curacao, Dr. Alfonso de Jesus Velez Rivas. The Colombian diplomat is assisted by Gloria Leon Lulu (Assistant Diplomatic Mission) and Luz Stella Jimenez Mira (Executive Assistant). Yesterday Today erroneously identified the consul as Gloria Florez de Pardo.

Consular services will be provided to Colombian nationals and the general public on Saturday and Sunday, by appointment.

Mobile Colombian consular services have been provided to St. Maarten since 1997, all coordinated by Mrs. Stella-Christian-Blandon, assigned in St. Maarten as liaison for the Colombian Consulate in Curacao.

The present Colombia Consul-general in Curacao has held a number of diplomatic and consular posts throughout his career. He is currently Minister Plenipotentiary in the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of the Republic of Colombia. Between 2009 and 2011, he served as Minister Counselor of Mission of Colombia to the European Union in Brussels. Previously, he served as Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Colombia in Warsaw and Consul of Colombia in Caracas. It’s the second time that he was appointed Consul of Colombia in Curaçao.

On the agenda for the visit to St. Maarten is also a courtesy call to Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams.
