Coast Guard officers use an alternative shooting rangePOSTED: 09/7/16 9:47 AM
St.maarten- Wearing the uniform of any one of the disciplined services on St. Maarten is a privilege, but carrying a fire arm comes with tons of responsibility and that includes knowing how to handle it.
In their efforts to ensure that accuracy is high on their agenda, the Coast Guard occupied a section of the hills overlooking Back Bay yesterday. The sole purpose of exercise was to give the officers an opportunity to shoot at stationary targets from varying distances.
To minimize the possibility of bullets entering the water, a huge mound of dirt served as the backdrop for the targets and for security reasons, officers were strategically placed to deter unwelcome visitors from getting into close proximity to the range.
