St. Maarten – The placement process for all civil servants as part of new country St. Maarten has been completed.  Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams with responsibility for the Ministry of General Affairs Placement on Wednesday said that of the approximately 1300 civil servants who had to be formally placed, 102 persons objected to their placements.

A committee headed by lawyer Richard Gibson Jr. was installed to review these objections and come up with recommendations. The Prime Minister reiterated that only 3 objections were sustained.

These persons were allowed to be considered for another position within the government machinery.

Meanwhile yesterday’s commemoration of Administrative Professionals Day, the government of St. Maarten gave all administrative staff the afternoon off.

The Prime Minister congratulated all civil servants for their invaluable contributions to the development of the country.
