Cft to issue advice on budgets of Curacao, St. Maarten Friday

WILEMSTAD/GREAT BAY — The supplementary and amended 2011 budget the Schotte government has submitted to the Board of financial supervision (Cft) is likely to get a positive advice. The body expects to render its advice on Friday, at the same time it releases an advice on the amendments to the budget for St. Maarten.
Schotte’s government submitted the budget left behind by the PAR led government that preceded his coalition, but gave notice they’d return with a supplement and amendments. They’ve now done that and are waiting for an advice following discussions on Tuesday between the Council of Ministers and the Cft.
The draft amended budget is balanced. It shows a 50 million guilder surplus on the general expenditure ledger, and a debt of the same amount on the capital investments chapter.
Curacao’s member on the Board of the Cft Alberto Romero said preliminary indications are that the budget will meet the criteria established in the Kingdom Law Financial Supervision. He also said that the government has shifted money to match their priorities, but has kept the changes budget neutral.
