GREAT BAY – The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) begins sale of its season passes for Carnival 2012 this Saturday. People can register and pay for the passes at the SCDF’s temporary office located in the parking lot at the rear of the Government Administration building in Philipsburg (blue containers). The sale will last until April 19.

Full payment must be made upon registering. People should bring along proper identification and two passport pictures. People overseas should email to be guided through the registration and payment process.

The season pass gives the holder entrance to all shows held in Carnival Village, local and international. There are nine show nights in the Village for the 14 days of Carnival and the passes will allow holders the chance to avoid long lines at the gate to gain entrance. The SCDF is offering the season pass for US $140. That’s an overall savings of almost US $50 if a person were to purchase individual tickets for every show in the Village. The price for the pass is higher this year since Carnival is longer. Carnival in 2011 was nine days.

The SCDF decided to sell the passes again this year because of the success of last year’s sale.

“It was an easy decision to do it again this year. Last year we decided let’s give the people what they’ve been asking for and it proved to be a great success for us. The season pass offers a great level of convenience and savings. We hope that the general public will jump at the opportunity again this year,” SCDF President Stuart Johnson said.
