Carnival robbery at La Galleria

St. Maarten News – On Thursday evening around 9.45 p.m. there was an armed robbery at La Galleria on Front Street. The robbery happened while the opening Jump Up for Carnival was on its way from Reward to the Festival Village.

Witnesses told officers of the Special Robbery Unit that they were suddenly attacked by three men dressed in dark clothing and armed with guns. The men went into the complex of Las Galleria and robbed their victims of an undisclosed amount of cash, a gold chain and a cell phone.

After the robbery the three men fled in the direction of Back Street. A search of the area for the robbers yielded no results.

The police ask witnesses to call the department at 542 22 22, extension 214 of 215, or to call the anonymous tip line at # 9300.
