Caribbean Living Statues Meeting on Sunday

POSTED: 11/22/12 1:33 PM

St. Maarten – Motiance Dance School and the Beyond Writing Foundation will conduct a pre kick-off meeting to take place coming Sunday, November 25 from 6 until 7.30 p.m. at Motiance at the Long Wall Road in Philipsburg. All registered statue participants and volunteers/helpers must attend this meeting. They will get information about the workshops, the work that has to be done and they will share information about their chosen acts, the fact finding/research and the so far collected clothing.

In order to be informed for the workshops on body painting, act and costume, it is necessary for the participants to know their chosen icon/scene well and to be able to express its characteristics. In this way, they will be better prepared when the teachers arrive (November 30th) on St. Maarten.

Another advantage of this pre kick off meeting is to get a chance to get acquainted to their co participants and helpers before the workshop starts. That makes the interaction easier during the workshop. The helpers will be divided into groups and will be better equipped with needed information on security and other relevant issues.

‘So far we have registered nearly 65 participants, counting nearly 40 statues, who will show Caribbean and regional items, but also some own fantasy creations.’ Morales, president of the BWF stated.

This festival is being sponsored by the Mondriaan Foundation and the Prince Bernhard Cultural fund.
