Businesses want sewage problem solved

St. Maarten – Business people in Philipsburg have urged authorities to do something about the overflowing sewage water in D.C. Steeg. The road was flooded with sewage again last Wednesday and businesses and road users alike have complained it is a consistent problem.
The restaurants near and in the alley way are particularly concerned as patrons have questioned whether it is hygienic to eat next to a sludge filled alley. There is also concern about the fact that students of the St. Joseph School are forced to walk through the sewage filled streets
Sewer overflows are often caused when there is an overflow, spill or release of raw or partially-treated sewerage from a sanitary sewer collection system before it reaches a sewerage treatment plant.
