Business plan new hospital put under a microscopePOSTED: 03/10/16 7:07 PM
St. Maarten News – Last week there was another tripartite meeting about the business plan for the new hospital, Minister Emil Lee (Public Health) said at yesterday’s Council of Ministers press briefing. “The objective is to revalidate the business plan,” Lee said. “We look at all the basic assumptions and put them under a microscope. One of the questions that came up is whether we should build it on the current location. What are the pros and cons? We also looked a t medical tourism. The SMMC could do this under its own wing, instead of bringing in a third party.”
Another consideration is the thought that close to home medical treatment benefit the recovery process of patients.
Policy issues also have an effect on what the hospital will look like, Lee said. He mentioned policies in the fields of preventive care and home care as examples.
