Budget advice Cft expected by the end of next week

POSTED: 02/5/15 8:20 PM

St. Maarten – Financial supervisor Cft has two weeks to react to the 2015 budget the parliament approved last week Thursday. This means that the term for a reaction expires on an ominous day in February, Friday 13 – the end of next week

If the Cft gives a negative advice, St. Maarten could face yet another instruction. Earlier the financial supervisor informed Finance Minister Hassink that a 445 million guilders budget is not feasible, considering the average revenue over the past three years. The Cft advised to bring the budget down to 426 million guilders, but the cabinet ignored the advice. The parliament also made no bones about it and approved the 445 million guilders budget.
