St. KITTS – Prime Minister Denzil Douglas honored Veronica Phillip last Friday at the Governor general’s residence as a Member of the British Empire for her more than forty years of dedication to her country’s education system. Mrs. Phillip is the mother of Patricia Lourens-Phillip, St. Maarten’s Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.

Seven other honorees received MBEs, OBEs and Country Medals of Honor during the same ceremony. The state nominated the honorees and Queens Elizabeth of England approved them.
