St. Maarten – The Judge of Instruction approved the detention of Border Bar owner I.P. for an additional eight days. P. is the main suspect in a human trafficking-investigation that revolves around the trade in women. The Border Bar is a brothel located in Oyster pond.
Chief Prosecutor Mr. Hans Mos told this newspaper yesterday that his office will ask the Judge of Instruction to prolong P.’s detention when the eight-day period expires.
Apart from trafficking women for his brothel, P. is also accused of firearm possession. Mos said that the team of thirty officers that raided the Border Bar on Wednesday morning confiscated a shotgun together with computers and documents.
