St. Maarten – The body of an unidentified man was found in the Simpson Bay Lagoon behind the Hertz car rental yesterday afternoon around six o’clock.

“The examination of the body did not reveal any signs of a crime,” Chief Prosecutor Mr. Hans Mos told this newspaper last night. “It seems that he had an accident and drowned. According to the doctor, the body has been in the water for about 24 hours.”

The identity of the man has not been established yet. Last night the police had not received any report about a missing person.

Before releasing a description of the deceased to the media, the police will first attempt to identify the body through other means.
