St. Maarten / Curacao —Prime Minister Stanley Betrian departed to Sint Maarten on Tuesday for an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams. The two will talk about bilateral agreements and conflicts between the two islands. Restoring the relationships between Kingdom partners is one of the top-priorities of Curacao’s interim government.

One serious conflict arose between board members of the Central Bank of Sint Maarten and Curacao. Currently, the members of Curacao are not supporting Central Bank President dr. Emsley Tromp, while the members of Sint Maarten do.

Other actions the interim government must take are initiating measures to promote democracy, passing the screening law and restoring confidence in Curacao’s financial and economic sector.. The interim government is talking with social partners about urgent issues. This week the basic insurance and old-age pension will be discussed.
