POSTED: 04/8/13 2:03 PM

St. Maarten –The Baby Wellness Clinic from the Collective Prevention Service (CPS), hereby informs its clients that the Baby Wellness Clinic will be closed during the afternoon hours as of today for the next two weeks.

The afternoon hour closure will run up until and including April 19.  The clinic will remain open during the morning hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will be an extra nurse available during this period to help clients who were scheduled during the afternoon hours.

The Youth Health Care (YHC) physician will not be available today until Friday due to a training session.

YHC services for children age 4 and up will continue according to the regular schedule with the opening hours for the public in the afternoon.  Nurses will also be visiting school during the morning hours according to their schedules.

The closure of the Baby Wellness Clinic during the afternoon hours is in connection with preparations for the upcoming Vaccination Week of the Americas (VWA).

Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor Cornelius De Weever’s ‘Get Checked’ campaign emphasizes the importance of having children immunized, and calls on parents and guardians to ensure that their children are vaccinated.

VWA runs from April 20-27.  Various activities are being planned, such as a Carnival troupe and community outreach in order to bring about additional awareness concerning the importance of immunization.
