Audit Chamber wants expenditures committee

St. Maarten –The Central Committee meets tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock with representative of the General Audit Chamber for a presentation about the general state of affairs as well as a proposal to establish a parliamentary committee for government expenditures.
On September 26 a meeting of the faction leaders in parliament (the “senioren convent”) discussed the need to establish this committee.
The Audit Chamber submitted a proposal to parliament on October 21.
The proposed committee will be evaluate the legitimacy and effectiveness of the budgetary process, support permanent committees of Parliament, review the budget, the annual reports and all other reports commissioned by the General Audit Chamber.
Last week Wednesday the General Audit Chamber and the Seniorenconvent discussed general points of interest including the proposed committee.
The meeting will be broadcast live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20.
