Audit Chamber still waiting for 2010 annual financial report

St. Maarten – The General Audit Chamber still has not received the 2010 annual financial report from the government, Chairman Roland Tuitt told this newspaper yesterday.
Mid-October, ahead of a symposium organized by the three high councils of state, Tuitt announced for the first time that he was awaiting this information. “The chamber audits the financial statements of the government. But before we are able to do that, these statements go to the Soab for scrutiny. Before that the government has to deliver them – and that has not happened yet for 2010. Once the Audit Chamber gets the statements, it has 45 days to put together its findings and to formulate recommendations,” he said at the time.
Yesterday, Tuitt said that originally the report was expected to be at the Audit Chamber by year’s end, but that he had to consult with the Finance Minister about the report’s status.
