GREAT BAY – Acting Chairman of the General Audit Chamber Ronald Halman along with Secretary General Joane Dovale-Meit presented their 40-page 2011 Annual Report to President of Parliament drs. Gracita Arrindell on Wednesday. The presentation was done in accordance with article 38 of the National Ordinance for the General Audit Chamber which says the report should be presented to Parliament no later than July 1.

The annual report is written in both official languages of English and Dutch. Some of the topics covered in the report are: position of the institution; tasks and authorities; staff; institutional development; governmental relationships; cooperation; operations; audits; regulatory audit on personnel expenditures; financial audit annual accounts 2010; service level agreement and the framework for core business areas.

Arrindell was very pleased to receive the General Audit Chamber annual report which is the first report on a complete year. Last year the chamber presented its first annual report 2010, which covered the first two and a half-month period of country status.

“I highly commend the board for a job well done once again. We need to continue to strengthen our high councils of state internally and continue to forge and strengthen their relationship with similar organizations within and outside of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I have noticed that the General Audit Chamber and Ombudsman have been very active in this area. It is very important for our young institutions to build relations with others,” Arrindell said on Wednesday.

Arrindell informed Halman that an invitation will be extended to the General Audit Chamber and to the Ombudsman to come to parliament and discuss the content of their annual reports. This meeting is expected to be scheduled after July’s parliamentary recess.

Arrindell received personalized copies of the report for each Member of Parliament, and the President promised to distribute these through the secretariat of parliament.

The other members of the board of the General Audit Chamber are: Alphons Gumbs, and replacement members Mark Kortenoever and Daniel Hassell.  The Chairman was Roland Tuitt who now serves as Minister of Finance.
