St. Maarten – President of the Windward Islands Teachers Union Claire Elshot says the process to appoint school managers to various schools public primary schools is still not done as yet. The school year began on August 15 and people who were called and congratulated now have to wait until Governor drs Eugene Holiday signs the resolutions.
“We are in the middle of the first term of the school year and all the school managers are still waiting for their formal nomination,” Elshot said recently.

The affected are the Genevieve De Weever School, the Martin Luther King School, the Leonard Conner School and the Charles Leopold Bell School. This means the only confirmed School Manager and Assistant School Manager in function are at the Oranje School on Front Street.
“It is clear that four-fifths of the Primary Public Schools have no formal management. Apparently the pen of the governor went to the Netherlands to sign documents for the Golden Book Week that is being celebrated. I cannot imagine that that the Governor Cabinet is just up the hill by Brooks Tower and the documents cannot be signed yet,” Elshot said.
