André Hoeneveld succeeds Rob Bats at Governor’s Cabinet

St. Maarten – The Governor of Sint Maarten announced yesterday that André Hoeneveld has been appointed as Director of his Cabinet per October 1. Hoeneveld succeeds Rob Bats who left on May 1, to become mayor of Haren in the Netherlands.

Hoeneveld (1959) has worked at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations since 1988. Since his appointment, he worked for many years as a lawyer at the Directorate for Constitutional Affairs and Legislation and several years as a (senior) staff in various other departments of the Ministry.

During his tenure at the Ministry, he has taken up several assignments in the Netherlands Antilles. From 1992 to 1997 he was Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Governor of the Netherlands Antilles where in 1996 he also functioned as Acting Director; from 2004 to 2005 he was senior government lawyer in the Office of the Lt. Governor of St. Maarten; from 2006 to 2010 he was legal adviser to the Cabinet of the Governor of the Netherlands Antilles and from 2010 to 2011 he was legal adviser to the Cabinet of the Governor of Curaçao.

Hoeneveld started his career in 1985 as a policy worker in the Department Municipal Tax in Rotterdam. He studied Dutch law and graduated in private and international law.
