St. Maarten – Princess Juliana International Airport contributed as a silver sponsor to the Toastmasters District 81 conference that was held in St. Maarten during the past weekend.
For the first time a St. Maartener will head District 81, following the swearing in of Rolando Tobias as the District Governor.
The conference aimed to solidify the communication and leadership attributes that make the 17 territories in District 81 so unique.
One of the major promotional tools used this year was a video in which Toastmasters promoted not only the conference, but also the island of St. Maarten and its attractions. This video was presented at the previous district conference in Puerto Rico. The video is also on YouTube
“Princess Juliana International Airport is proud to have sponsored this conference, and to have extended certain courtesies to the organizers,” said Kalifa Hickinson, the airport’s marketing and communications manager.
The airport also provided financial support recently to the Charlotte Brookson Academy for the Performing Arts. The academy is planning the opening of a school for secondary education in August, modeled after the Charter Schools in the USA.
“As a good corporate citizen, the airport does its best to assist organizations dedicated to educational pursuits on the island, however, this is done within the limits imposed by our own means as well as the company’s policy,” managing director Regina Labega said.
