St. Maarten – The Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the university and Bureau Telecommunication and Post (BTP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly support the “I AM SXM” initiative of MP Tamara Leonard whereby St. Maarten students interested in journalism and seeking a career in this field, will be educated at the university.
The course, to be offered for a period of sixteen weeks shall enable at least five eligible students to participate and be certified in the field of journalism. The university will design the course, its content and certification and provide classroom space. BTP covers tuition fees and equipment expenses while the Chamber of Commerce makes its Biz Center facilities available. It will also coordinate the pre-registration and registration process. The progress monitoring system and conditions for students participating in the program will also be developed by the Chamber together with the university to ensure the success of the program.
