Administrative action against violating laws and regulationsPOSTED: 06/28/13 11:49 AM
St. Maarten– Controls on laws and regulations met a dead end after 10-10-10 because inspectors lost their authority to control, the Public Prosecutor’s Office writes in its 2014 year plan. “This year the Justice Minister reappointed the inspectors temporarily for one year again as extraordinary police officers, so that they are again authorized to conduct controls.”
The prosecutor’s office intends to invest in the quality of special detection services. In special cases the prosecutor’s office will decide about how to handle a case.
The inspectorates will also be asked to use a two-pronged approach. Next to criminal enforcement the inspectors will also take administrative action. The prosecutor’s office suggests two options in its year plan: restoring the legal situation and revoking the permit of violators.
