St. Maarten – After a 40 minute, seemingly intense deliberation for the result of just a mere 10 finalist, Dr. Jones with his rendition of Ten Fingers, was crowned Road March King 2013.

As he was being donned in his regal cloak crown and scepter, his expression was one of sheer disbelief. Somewhat controversial, throughout the night it was this same Jones, who burst onto the stage and gave the MC Fernando Clark a good busing for changing the order of appearance. For a moment it all appeared to be an act but a bitter Jones demanded no favors be given to anyone and the order of appearances be looked at immediately.

As if this wasn’t enough he stormed into the crowd in sighting support from fans of the unfairness of the competition. But his strongest point was made in song sending a strong message to the Carnival Committee whose prior intentions were to remove the Road March competition from the schedule. Somehow Mr. Jones being crowned Road March winner seems questionable.

While the other contestants came out with all they had, some more elaborate than others the crowds were the smallest to date. With only a $2 entrance fee the crowds were way smaller than the $40 concerts held over the weekend. At times the MC made light of the crowds calling them the cheap people crowd and even blaming the attendance on today being a work day. That was just the exact opposite as scores came out on Monday night for the Miss Mature pageant and the following day being a work day. Local talent is fighting to gain the countries’ support.

The patrons who still came out to support both the booth holders and the contestants enjoyed the night. The lone female in the lineup Apple Jacks, who sang get on bad threw sweets and mini toys to the kids who came out and took park in the bouncy castle and fun houses at the venue. Might Dow the last contestant had an upbeat performance with some very feisty dance.  However Bal’s rendition of Leg Up and his sexy winner girl created a stir. With splits hand stand leg stand etc., it still wasn’t enough to take the title.
