SHTA assists Milton Peters CollegePOSTED: 02/5/13 12:18 PM
GREAT BAY – The St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association SHTA recently assisted the VSBO-TKL section of Milton Peters College (MPC) in covering the costs of students’ transportation for a series of environmental education excursions. MPC-teacher Diana Atmopawiro accepted the check from SHTA board member Rueben Thompson. She explained that the funds would allow for the transportation of some 100 VSBO-TKL1 students to the Landfill in Philipsburg and the waste sorting facilities (Déchèterie) in Galis Bay on the French side where students will learn about the island’s waste treatment services. Thompson noted that the SHTA is pleased to be able to support the school’s education excursions because the association believes it is becoming increasingly important to raise awareness about the environmental challenges St. Maarten faces.
