St. Maarten – In their efforts to pay respects to the elderly on St Maarten, the Wi Fi Band which is led by Erno York will team up with the Ebony Steel Orchestra for what has been dubbed as ‘Carnival Funday Day and Freedom show on Saturday November 10 at the Emilio Wilson Park.
There will be special guest appearances from Shadow Man and the 4 M Band and some lucky persons will stand a chance to win a grand prize of $3000, a blackberry, laptop and shopping vouchers for a variety of super markets.
To make the event more interesting, the organizers will also have a special calypso competition where the eventual winner can take home a $1,000 cash prize and a chance to be in a Wi Fi band music video.
All proceeds from this charitable event will go towards the Senior Citizens Home in St Johns and York has this to say. “This is a good way of giving back to the senior citizens and that includes King Arrow who has done well for the musical industry,” he said.
“We are quite grateful and thankful for what the musical foundation is doing for the elderly who have done so much themselves over the years. It’s nice to know that the young generation can actually do something for them,” said Melessa Hosein.
But to cap it off was Neville Lake, the grandfather of Erno York. “I feel is it unique because if young people do not have vital respect for elders, then things will go from bad to worse. Much is said about young people which sometimes is the negative side and this is another trend of thinking. It shows that they are some young people who have a lot of respect for the elderly,” Lake said.
