St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams said in a press statement that she had turned down an invitation by the World Council of Mayors to travel to Malabo in Equatorial Guinea to receive a award for her contribution to building country St. Maarten.
“In spite of the invitation and the generous offer of the World Council of Mayors I had to politely refuse the invitation. I wanted to be home where I am needed, but I would like to thank the World Council of Mayors for Extending the Invitation and the Recognizing our efforts here in St. Maarten,” Wescot-Williams stated.
Fifty mayors from America and the Caribbean and one hundred mayors from Africa attended the world conference on the African continent.
