Scooter collides with Jeep, witnesses find firearm

GREAT BAY – On Wednesday morning around 9.30 a.m. a Jeep and a scooter collided at the corner of Back Street and the Tamarinde Steeg. The scooter rider, identified by police as K.L. (23) was complaining of severe pain. He was treated on site by paramedics and transported to the medical center with possibly a broken leg.

Witnesses told police officers they had seen a firearm fall from the scooter. They showed the fully loaded 9 millimeter pistol to officers who confiscated it. The firearm division is examining the weapon. The scooter was driving without a license plate. The rider will now face prosecution for firearm possession.
