Attorneys receive certificate for completing insurance course

St. Maarten – Attorneys Cindy Marica and Anjelie Lachman received certificates in insurance from St. Maarten Insurance Brokers Association Siba president Neil Henderson yesterday for completing a course they followed last April in Curacao.
The training was given at the Dutch Academy for law practice (Academie voor de rechtspraktijk). It addressed changes in the insurance legislation that have already been adopted in the Netherlands and in Curacao and that are currently pending in St. Maarten.
There were twelve participants in the course; three were from St. Maarten. The parliament of St. Maarten has the new insurance legislation currently under consideration and has heard the point of view of the Sint Maarten Insurance Association SMIA.
Henderson said that the parliament will soon also hear the point of view from the Siba on the same legislation which is based on the concept for the LABB, a Dutch acronym for national insurance broker company.
Henderson said that he is very pleased with the interest the two attorneys have shown in the course. “I am confident that the knowledge they obtained will benefit the industry, and by extension the community we serve.”
