THE NETHERLANDS – A passenger aircraft which had to turn back to Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport shortly after take-off on Monday morning contained a letter saying there were explosives on board, airport police said on Monday evening.
The KLM plane, heading for the English city of Leeds with 45 passengers on board, turned back minutes after taking off when crew members found the letter, say press reports.
It was guided to a distant part of the airport where the passengers were off-loaded. They continued their journey on another plane.
Airport police are conducting an inquiry into where the letter came from and who wrote it.
