Lady B hosts 4th annual SXM Sandblast

GREAT BAY – St. Maarten’s premiere sand castle event is back. It takes place at La Playa, Orient Beach on Sunday July 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The sand castle building event is for all ages and includes a day of contests, castings, live music, great food and family fun.
There will be also be casting for upcoming photo shoots, videos and the Mr. La Playa calendar. This is the first of several castings and the final casting will include cash and prizes. Casting is open to males ages 18 and up. The casting is organized by La Playa and Music Radio. Registration for the sand castle building competition is between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. There are only 12 team sign up spots available, so pre-registration is urged. Each team will have a designated area with eight cubic meters per team. The Lady B Sandblast Contest is open to teams of eight of all ages.
Contestants will compete for the coveted Golden Bucket Award which will be handed out at an award ceremony at 3:00 p.m. Sandcastle building begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Sculptures are only available for viewing until 4:00 p.m. due to the tides. Each team must bring their own building supplies.
