St. Maarten – UTS commemorates World Telecommunication Day, which falls together with Ascension Day this year on May 17. The telecom provider is giving back to the customers that have made the company’s success possible through a top up promotion that is valid today and tomorrow for Chippie prepaid customers on St. Maarten, Saba and Statia.
“After the Carnival festivities of St. Maarten have ended, it is usually a time when people would like to get the biggest bang for their buck when it comes to their everyday expenses,” UTS marketing and communications officer Ivy Lambert stated in a press release. “There is no better occasion to give our customers the opportunity to stretch their dollar than World Telecommunications Day. We are thankful for the confidence our customers place in us and we want to thank them for allowing us to be their telecommunications provider of choice by offering them something extra.”
The top up promotion will allow customers to buy Chippie prepaid credit and obtain an additional amount of credit free. The more credit is purchased, the higher the percentage of free credit received. The promotion will be available today and tomorrow at the UTS stores in Philipsburg and Cole Bay and at the various top-up locations on St. Maarten, Saba and Statia. The offer is applicable for cash top-up only. It does not apply to E-pins purchased at Xtreme Machine self-service kiosks, through text message or ATM recharge nor Scratch card purchase.
In addition to the aforementioned promotion, UTS will also commemorate World Telecommunication Day by supporting the Art of Living Foundation’s multicultural peace event, on Sunday at the A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facility. The focus of the foundation is to increase the level of peace by creating an atmosphere where people can come together with understanding, compassion and love. “We are proud to support this initiative with our diamond sponsorship,” Lambert said, “Communication is the first step towards creating understanding and compassion, so what better way to commemorate World Telecommunication Day than by sponsoring such a unique and positive-minded event. The prosperity of a nation not only depends on its economic growth, but also on how peaceful and happy its people are. We are happy to support a foundation whose goal is to contribute to a more peaceful and stress-free St. Maarten.” Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s address via a live video feed from Germany will be followed in 153 countries world-wide. UTS will provide a few BlackBerry smartphones as door-prizes for the evening.
