Decision about parliamentary inquiry no later than June 1POSTED: 05/9/12 2:06 PM
WILLEMSTAD – The parliamentary inquiry into the functioning of Curacao’s national security service VDC will possibly also include an investigation into phone tapping by the public prosecutor’s office, the Amigoe reported yesterday.
The President of the Parliament, Ivar Asjes, suggests this in a letter to PNP-MP Humphrey Davelaar.
The possible expansion of the inquiry is based on an advice from the Board of seniors, Asjes wrote to Davelaar, who had asked Asjes earlier when the inquiry would begin.
Asjes stated that he had contacted the parliament’s secretariat with the request to write a proposal for the inquiry. He assumes that the parliament will deal with this proposal no later than June 1.
The parliament will have to take decisions about the budget for the inquiry, the members of the inquiry committee and the assignment it will have to work with, Davelaar said.
