Foundation spreads Easter cheerPOSTED: 04/5/12 12:56 PM
St. Maarten – The delivery of 300 baskets by the Easter Bunny to students of three elementary schools provoked utter delight from students who eagerly delved into their hampers. It represented a donation by The Voice of Our Children (VOOC) foundation who selected the Charles Leopold Bell, Leonard Connor and Prins Willem Alexander schools as the lucky recipients of the treat.
Though their Easter goodies were much smaller than a basket, students of the Sister Magda, Rainbow Bright and Oranje schools were not left out. The Easter Bunny made trips around the island in a jeep with VOOC President Sharmaine Olivacce to usher in the Easter spirit.
“The look on the children’s faces was one of pure joy and this is what I looked forward to,” Olivacce said.
The event was made possible through the sponsorship of Divico, Prime Distributors, B&C Beverages and Marshall Motors.
The Voice of Our Children is a youth oriented foundation, which hosts a weekly radio programme and television news broadcast to stimulate the minds of young people and motivate them to become actively involved in community development.
