St. Maarten – Officials of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) briefed the Council of Ministers on some of the results of their two weeks of consultations last Friday.
The team expressed pleasure at the good cooperation they received during their working visit from the public and private sectors. The information will be used to compile reports. The government also still has the opportunity to furnish additional information or any documentation such as legislation.
The CFATF is an organization of 29-states of the Caribbean Basin, which have agreed to implement common countermeasures to address the problem of criminal money laundering. It was established as the result of meetings convened in Aruba in May 1990 and Jamaica in November 1992.
