Mingo resigns from marine trades associationPOSTED: 02/28/12 1:27 PM
GREAT BAY – St. Maarten Harbour Group of Companies’ Chief Executive Officer Mark Mingo resigned as a board member of St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA) recently and nominated Richard van der Mark to replace him. Mingo is stepping down because he does not believe he will have the time to sit on the board of the marine trades association and function as a supervisory board member of the St. Maarten Tourism Authority (STA).
“I do believe that SLAC [Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority, a subsidiary of the harbour group] should stay onboard and if possible we would like to recommend Mr. Richard van der Mark to sit in for the rest of my term. I will continue to strive for the synergy of working together. For me, the Marine Sector is largely represented by both the cruise/yachting segment,” Mingo wrote in an e-mail to the marine trade association’s president Brian Deher.
In reply Deher thanked Mingo for his assistance and contribution to the marine industry during his tenure on the board.
“We look forward to continuing to work with you and your team in the future to help promote all aspects of the marine and other industries on St. Maarten,” the marine trades association president said.
