St. Maarten – A total of 22 organizations stand to lose their government subsidy this year, the subsidy list of the draft 2012 budget shows. Removing the subsidies saves the government 15.9 million guilders (about $8.8 million).
The Foundation Tax Accountants Bureau (Bab), the Common Court of Justice, the Coast Guard, and the Rehabilitation Bureau are among the organizations that no longer receive subsidies. Others are Turning Point, St. Maarten Student Support Services Foundation, the St. Maarten Museum Heritage Foundation, the Culture Council, the Foundation for Cultural Development, the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, the Film Inspection Committee, Foundation Upkeep Sports Facilities and the Dutch Quarter Community Center. Also in line to lose funding are St. Maarten Little League, St. Maarten Tennis Federation, the St. Maarten Youth Council, the Family Life Foundation, W.G.K. and the Miss Caribe Hibiscus Pageant.
