St. Maarten – Children’s author and President of the Beyond Writing Foundation Loekie Morales has gone to Cuba to participate in the 21st Feria International del Libro, which is the Cuban Department of Culture. Morales will participate in several workshops that are part of ‘Programma del Pabellon Infantil’. The latter event will allow the author and foundation president to meet writers and illustrators from the Caribbean and other parts of the Americas.
“I am glad to meet several other ‘creative minds’ of the Caribbean. Those meetings are always a big inspiration to go on with my writing, despite the difficulties that I encounter in the publishing trajectory of my works. We have plans with Casas de Las Americas and Campanitos to reach bigger parts of the Caribbean with my books that will have to appear in Spanish and English. I am enjoying staying in a country I have dreamt to visit since 1978,” Morales stated in a release.
As part of the visit Morales will present her book Mina Marina to school children. The character will be dressed in her mermaid costume. There will also be a presentation for adults on Morales’ book ‘Overseas Bloodline’ which is available as book and as an audio book. This new work will be launched in St. Maarten soon.
