Tourists catch young robber, and decline to file complaint
POSTED: 12/5/11 12:44 PMSt. Maarten – Two assertive cruise tourists caught a young robber on Thursday after he had ripped a gold chain from a woman’s neck near the Oranje School on Front Street.
The robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon around two thirty.
After the boy had grabbed the chain, his victim and her husband gave chase and they caught the boy, identified only as K.H.S.R., in an alley.
When the police arrived on the scene, the tourists were still there, while the boy was held by bystanders. The chain was found back in the alley and returned to the woman, who declined to file a complaint. Instead, she asked that the boy be severely reprimanded.
The police took the boy to the station and informed his mother. Then the young robber was reprimanded in his mom’s presence and informed about his behavior’s negative consequences in the future, before he was released into his mother’s care.
