St. Maarten – The Court of Guardianship will deliver its views on the National Ordinance on Joint Custody of Minors and Under-aged Children during a central committee meeting at 10:00 a.m. today. The specific changes will be to articles in Book 1 of the Civil Code and the hearing will be in the General Assembly Chamber of the House of Parliament.
The parliamentary hearing is the first of several to be held during the coming weeks with respect to changes to the Civil Code after MPs requested in a session on October 3 that other entities be heard with respect to the changes that are to be made to the Civil Code.
The Central Committee of Parliament will also meet at 2:00 p.m. with Justice Minister Roland Duncan about changes to the Penal Code with respect to special investigation methods (monitoring equipment and infiltration) for law enforcement agencies. This meeting will also take place in the General Assembly Chamber in the House of Parliament.
Both the hearing and Central Committee meeting is open to the public and will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20.
