St. Maarten – The group of aviation workers who participated in a week long training on Airport Security led by Arthur Tholel and Pedro Rotella, both instructors from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have been presented their certificates. The workshop is the first of its kind and sought to increase knowledge in protecting the airport against acts of unlawful interference; contributing to the safety and security of the general public and aviation workers; and developing a future career in the field of aviation security.
Five staffers from different departments at the Princess Juliana International Airport and one from the Department of Civil Aviation & Maritime St. Maarten were joined by four people from the Bahamas, and one participant each from Grenada, Saba and St. Eustatius.
Head of St. Maarten’s Department of Civil Aviation & Maritime Louis Halley has promised there will be more aviation workshops in the near future.
