Sections of L.B Scott Road and Gladiola Road close SaturdayPOSTED: 09/30/11 12:26 PM
St. Maarten – The intersection of L.B. Scott Road and Gladiola Road will close at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday to allow for the contractor to continue laying the main sewage line that will run from Ebenezer to the A Th. Illidge Road. The road will remain closed until October 7 at 10:00 p.m. and all through traffic entering and exiting Cul-de-Sac will be partially rerouted via the secondary roads.
L.B. Scott Road will remain open for outbound traffic from Cul-de-Sac up to Gladiola Road. All through traffic headed in the direction of Philipsburg and the Airport, must use Gladiola Road and Coralita Road. Inbound traffic must utilize the Coralita Road. Motorists must make the right turn into the district of Saunders and then turn on to the Flamboyant Road to rejoin the L.B. Scott Road.
Additionally, in order to alleviate the congestion at the Coralita Road and Zager’s Gut intersection it is advised that through traffic from Madame Estate going to Cole Bay take the left at the Cottage Roundabout (Eddie’s Auto Supply) and then follow the Link 1 (Great Bay Hotel) route. It is also advised that motorists use the intersection of Bush Road/Zaeger’s Gut Road onto Coralita Road to access Cul-de-Sac from Philipsburg. This route also applies to through traffic originating from Welgelegen Road (Cay Hill) and A.J.C. Brouwers Road (Cole Bay/Airport).
Signs are being erected and will stay posted for the duration of the work. Motorists are asked to pay keen attention to these signs so that there are smooth and safe transitions into the detours.
“Furthermore, the Government of St. Maarten asks for your patience and understanding for the inconveniences that this will cause,” Head of New Projects Kurt Ruan said.
